About Denplan payment plans

Denplan payment plans are provided by Simplyhealth Professionals, the UK’s leading dental payment plan specialist. They have consistently used a preventive approach to dental care and, with their unique and wide-ranging support services, have been looking after dentists and their patients for over 30 years. They support patients by allowing them to budget for their private dental care and encourage a preventive approach to oral healthcare. About the products

Denplan Care

  • Denplan Care is a monthly payment plan which helps you pay for your routine and restorative dental treatment
  • The amount you pay is decided by your dentist and is based on your oral health and how much dental treatment you will need
  • After an initial assessment by the dentist of your oral health (for which you may be charged) you will be placed into one of five fee categories
  • Our Denplan Care prices all include optional worldwide dental emergency and injury insurance cover. If you choose not to take out this optional insurance the monthly fee is reduced by 60p

Routine and restorative dental care includes:

  • Check-ups
  • Hygiene treatment (including scaling and polishing)
  • Dental x-rays
  • Necessary fillings
  • Preventive dental advice and therapy
  • Any necessary extractions
  • Periodontal (gum) treatment
  • Crowns, bridges, dentures, inlays (excluding laboratory fees)
  • Root canal treatment

Denplan Care does not cover:

  • Laboratory fees and prescriptions
  • Any treatment excluded by the dentist in your contract which is payable by you at the private fee rates
  • Referral to a specialist and specialist treatment
  • Treatment carried out anywhere other than by your registered dentist
  • Orthodontics, implants, cosmetic treatment
  • Sedation fees

Denplan Essentials

  • Denplan Essentials is a dental plan which helps you budget for your routine preventive dental care
  • Seeing your dentist regularly is important as it can help you avoid having to undergo costly, restorative treatments
  • The dental plan is easy to set up and no pre-assessment is necessary
  • Your dentist will decide how often he wants to see you and how much he will charge you
  • You will have to pay for any restorative dental treatment necessary (ie. crowns, bridges or fillings)
  • Our Denplan Essentials prices all include optional worldwide dental emergency and injury insurance cover. If you choose not to take out this optional insurance the monthly fee is reduced by 60p

Routine dental care includes:

  • Check-ups (up to the maximum detailed in your contract)
  • Scaling, polishing and other hygiene treatment (up to the maximum detailed in your Contract)
  • Dental x-rays
  • Any additional treatment specified as included by the dentist in your contract
  • Preventive dental advice

Denplan Essentials does not cover:

  • Restorative dental treatments including fillings, crowns, bridges or dentures (at the discretion of your dentist)
  • Laboratory fees and prescriptions
  • Any treatment excluded by the dentists in your contract which is payable by you to the dentist
  • Referral to a specialist and specialist treatment

Denplan for Children

  • Denplan for Children is a flexible payment plan which is ideal for making sure your child gets the best possible dental care from an early age.
  • The category your child is placed in is based on the condition of their oral health and the amount of treatment they will need.
  • The dental plan focuses on preventive care by providing you with an easy and economical way to pay for your child to have regular dental check-ups. This is fundamental if the early signs of tooth decay or abnormalities are to be picked up and treated quickly.
  • Our Denplan for Children prices all include optional worldwide dental emergency and injury insurance cover. If you choose not to take out this optional insurance the monthly fee is reduced by 60p

Denplan Questions and Answers

Q. When will my Denplan Care contract with my dentist begin?

A. Your dentist will arrange a start date for your Denplan Care contract. This date will be entered onto your contract and will always fall on the first day of the month. Your supplementary Insurance will commence from the start date of your contract, or Denplan's receipt of your registration form, whichever is later.

Q. How will the benefits of Denplan Care differ from the dental care I have been receiving?

A. Under Denplan Care, the emphasis is placed on preventative dental care. This means that your dentist will work towards stopping dental problems before they occur. This will help improve and maintain your dental health. Your Denplan dentist will explain your particular care and treatment needs.

Q. How is my fee category determined?

A. Your Denplan dentist determines your fee category based on Denplans Oral Health Assessment and scoring system.

Q. Where does my monthly payment go?

A. You are in contract with your dentist. Denplan provides administration services to support the contract between you and your dentist. This includes passing your payments on to your dentist on a regular basis. A small percentage of your monthly payment is retained by Denplan to cover administration and your Supplementary Insurance.

Q. Are there any discounts available?

A. Denplan Care benefits the whole family. Where more than one member of a family (or payment group) is registered with any Denplan dentist at one practice, the following discounts apply: 2 group members - 5% 3 group members - 10% 4 or more group members - 15% Please note, all payments must be collected using the same method of payment (Direct Debit) and all correspondence will be sent to the payer's address only. If you would like to benefit from these discounts, please contact your Denplan dentist.

Q. What are payment options?

A. You can choose to pay your subscription monthly by Direct Debit, or annually in advance, either by Direct Debit, cheque or by credit/ debit card to Denplan. Annual payments are calculated on a calendar year basis.

Q. How much is my registration fee and what is it for?

A. The registration fee is a one off payment of £15 per patient. This will debited from your bank account during the first month of your contract. It will cover Denplan's initial administration costs to arrange your Supplementary Insurance.

Q. Once I have signed my Denplan Care contract, can I cancel it?

A. Yes. You can cancel your contract at any time by giving at least 21 days notice by telephone, or in writing, to your dentist and to Denplan. The contract with your dentist will then end on the last day of the month which next occurs. Further details can be found on the reverse of the contract that you have signed with your dentist.

Q. Is Denplan Essentials an insurance policy?

A. No. Denplan Essentials is a dental payment plan that lets you to budget for routine check-ups, x-rays and hygiene treatment as specified by your dentist. However, Denplan arranges, on your behalf, Supplementary Insurance to contribute towards the cost of treatment required as a result of a dental injury or dental emergency.

Q. When will my Denplan Essentials Contract start?


A. Your dentist will agree a start date for your Denplan Essentials Contract with you. This date will be entered onto your Contract and will always be on the first day of the month.

Q. What if I need restorative treatment - is this covered by Denplan Essentials?

A. No. Any restorative dental treatment needed will have to be paid for separately, unless your dentist chooses to provide additional treatment as part of your Contract. The practice team will be able to let you know your dentist’s treatment fees.

Q. How much does it cost?


A. As individual dentists set their own fees, there is no standard cost. The cost will depend on the amount of routine care you need. Please note that there is a registration fee payable to cover Denplan’s cost of administration. This is a one-off charge, equivalent to one month’s fee.

Q. Are there any discounts available?

A. Yes. Where more than one member of a family/group is registered with any Denplan dentist at one practice, the following discounts apply: two family/group members - 5% three family/group members - 10% four or more family/group members - 15%
The Supplementary Insurance and Denplan Insurance Services fees do not have discounts applied.
Please note: to qualify for discount all payments must be collected using the same method of payment. All correspondence will be sent to the address of the person who pays for the plans.

Q. What are my payment options?

A. You can choose to pay your fee monthly by Direct Debit, or annually in advance either by Direct Debit, cheque or credit card.

Q. Who am I in contract with?

A. For the dental care you receive under Denplan Essentials you are in Contract with your dentist. For the Supplementary Insurance element you are in Contract with AXA PPP healthcare Limited and you are in Contract with Denplan for the Denplan Insurance Services.
